In 1969, a Vietnam Veteran wanted to utilize his skill and knowledge along with his love of flying in the civilian aviation community. With an enthusiastic outlook toward the future, he began the area's first commercial helicopter service, Whirl-Away Helicopters Inc. Since that time Whirl-Away Helicopters Inc. has been daily serving the needs of the Louisville metropolitan area, rural Kentucky and Indiana, and surrounding states. Whirl-Away Helicopters Inc. continues to operate with the highest standards obtainable in civilian aviation.

Whirl-Away Helicopters has held FAA Air Taxi Certification since 1972. The service has been dominated by professionalism and safety. Records indicate we operate at the highest level of safety for any aviation business in the U.S. We employ several methods to ensure quality control including a Safety Program, an Internal Audit Program, and an Anti-Drug and Alcohol testing program.

Business helicopters have never been built better or safer than they are today. To ensure you fly with only professional pilots, we place a great deal of emphasis on trained pilots. Our pilots have extensive aviation experience and background in all phases of helicopter flight.  Pilots participate in our "Pilot Training Program" which includes recurrent training, a flight check, safety training and emergency training on an on going basis throughout the year.
